Attorney Shelby L. Wilson was recently appointed as Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Taxation’s Committee on Closely Held Businesses for a two-year term beginning July 2015.
“Your selection as a Committee Chair and a part of the Section of Taxation’s leadership represents recognition by your peers of your abilities and contributions to the work of the Section,” said George C. Howell, III, Chair Elect of the ABA Section of Taxation.
The Closely Held Businesses Committee provides private practitioners and government lawyers a forum to share their knowledge and interact on matters involving closely held businesses, including corporate planning, estate and business succession planning, state & local tax planning issues and representation before taxing authorities.
As Chair of the Closely Held Businesses Committee, Attorney Wilson will be responsible for:
- Supervising and coordinating all Committee Activities
- Establishing subcommittees and appointing subcommittee chairs
- Grooming successors
- Affecting the development and administration of the tax laws through the Committee’s programs and projects
- Continuing excellent CLE activities
