Members of the public had the opportunity to speak with a lawyer for free on Saturday, May 30, when the Milford Bar Association held an “ASK-A-LAWYER” legal information clinic in the program room of the city’s library. The event was held in celebration of Law Day, which was May 1, in recognition of the ideas of equality and justice for all. Attorney Joseph Corselli volunteered his time to assist citizens and answer general questions about a variety of legal matters.
More than 25 area residents showed up to participate, and met with attorneys for 15-20 minutes to discuss general legal information. If necessary, they were provided with referrals to legal services, other agencies, a private attorney, or a useful legal website if they wished to do their own research.
The gamut of questions included topics such as divorce and child support, estate planning, bankruptcy, real estate closings, collections, estate fraud, employment issues, living wills, and many others.
